Slava's Snow Show, Marina Bay Sands Singapore

Slava's Snow Show made a returned visit to Singapore at the Marina Bay Sands.  I last caught the show at the Ediburgh Fringe Festival years ago, and it was done with minimal props and stage effects.  So has it changed much through the years? Based on the promotional clip, it seemed so...

There was not really a storyline in this production, but a series of vignettes pieced together.  Russian clown Slava Polunin and his fellow actor-clowns held the show tightly, and showed that circus act could be presented in an innovative way.  Of course, the technical side, lighting and sound, was excellent.  And the soundscape was apt and hynoptic.  The first pleasant surprise was "snow" flowing into the audience.  And that ended the first half.

The highlight of the second half would definitely be the snow storm, which for seconds seemed magical.

And the balloons came....

and came...

And the audience had fun touching and pushing them....

This production has definitely matured since the 1990s.  I enjoyed it much more than the previous outing.  Recommended.
